The University of Wisconsin–Madison invites you to experience what New Yorkmagazine calls “North America’s premier repertory company,” in what is surely one of the continent’s most pleasant and enjoyable towns: Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
The Shaw Festival is one of our most popular destinations for quality theatre and the lineup for 2008 is one you won’t want to miss. Your package this year includes premier tickets to five great plays, including G.B. Shaw’s Getting Married, the gothic comedy Belle Moral by Ann-Marie MacDonald, and the hit musical Wonderful Town!
But this year we’re adding a new twist: we’re letting you customize your trip a little bit by selecting for yourself the other two plays that you want to attend! On our first night you may choose to see either Shaw’s Mrs. Warren’s Profession, or the Terence Rattigan play After the Dance. Likewise, for your Sunday matinee you may attend Lillian Hellman’s southern tale The Little Foxes, or the classic murder mystery An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley. The choices are yours but don’t worry about it now: we’ll ask you after you register which plays you want to see.
As always, you may elect to attend the optional lunchtime one-act play if you would like an extra dose of theatre; this season’s production, presented Sunday morning, is Ferenc Molnar’s fast-paced comedy, The President.
Your weekend package also includes our popular educational seminar, three nights lodging at the luxurious Prince of Wales Hotel, and coach transfers to and from the airport with our traditional lunch stop at Niagara Falls on the way to the festival.
Five plays in all, two of your own choosing, with an option for a sixth, all in one of Canada’s most picturesque towns: this is a weekend of live theatre at its very best.
